‘Working With UNDP Country Director Inspires Staff’


The President of the United Nations Staff Association in Liberia says working with Dr. Kamil Kamaluddeen, outgoing UNDP Country Director, was inspiration for the staff.

Kaman Weah made the statement at a farewell program the staff tendered in honor of Dr. Kamaluddeen on Friday in Monrovia.

UNDP head office has reassigned Dr. Kamaluddeen to South Sudan having served with the Liberia mission for several years.

Mr. Weah described Dr. Kamaluddeen as a humanitarian and result-oriented person.

“Working with Dr. Kamaluddeen inspires the lives of the staff because he was a hardworking person, who was so dedicated to the job to the extent that he nurtured every member of the staff that worked with him,” Mr. Weah said to a round of applause.

He said during his tenure, Dr.Kamaluddeen showed that he is an example of a true representation of a dedicated servant who hoped that Liberia achieve examplenary results through his work.

“You have motivated us in so many ways by putting us on our feet in working to develop our country through the mandate of the UNDP; therefore, we will miss you as we wish you well on your next mission,” Mr. Weah said.

Mr. Yacoub El Hillo, who spoke on behalf of the UNDP management, also described Dr. Kamaluddeen as an individual with great love for Liberia who has served the country with passion and humanity.

The UNDP family appreciated the works of Dr. Kamaluddeen especially the one that promotes the establishment of the decentralization program, which is intended to deliver services to citizens in the 15 counties, he said.

“We have contributed immensely to the developmental agenda of the country and have improved team work at the offices. Therefore, we wish you a peaceful journey to your new mission. But please, don’t forget to make Liberia your next home,” Mr. Hillo added.

In response to the many praises, Dr. Kamaluddeen expressed gratitude to the staff, adding, “I am pleased with the level of team work I experienced in Liberia.”

“Everyone made my work very easy, because you cooperated by carrying the spirit of achieving results through the work for which I remain proud,” Kamaluddeen said.

Dr. Kamaluddeen joined the UN system in 1998 and has since served in various positions with UNDP including his assignment in Nigeria (1998 -2002); HDRO, New York (2000-2001); ILO Regional Office for Africa, Abidjan (2002); UNDP Offices in Ghana (2002-2005) and Liberia (2002-2008), where he served as Economics Advisor; and was resent to Liberia as Country Director for UNDP from 2013 -2016.
