Veep Boakai “A Great Man”


President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has congratulated Vice President Joseph Boakai on the occasion of his 72nd birth anniversary, which was officially observed yesterday, ,. President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf described him as “a great man.”

The President, who also reaffirmed her unflinching support for Boakai’s presidential bid in 2017, praised Boakai for his support over the years, the Executive Mansion said in a press release.

She was speaking yesterday at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium (ATS) during an official program held in Boakai’s honor. He is now the standard bearer of the ruling Unity Party (UP) contesting the ensuing 2017 election.

President Sirleaf also thanked the UP partisans and citizens for turning out in their numbers to congratulate and stand with VP Boakai during his birthday. She admonished them to continue their commitment and loyalty to Boakai, the UP and the country at large.

VP Boakai, responding, thanked President Sirleaf for honoring him with her presence at yesterday’s event. He commended President Sirleaf for affording him the opportunity to serve his people and Liberia as her Vice President.

Boakai then reaffirmed his acceptance to contest the 2017 elections, adding, “At the Unity Party Convention in June, my friend and sister President Sirleaf gracefully handed to me the mantle of authority to take on as standard bearer of the invincible UP. This was historic and unprecedented.”

Veep Boakai said he stands by the commitment he made in Lofa County during his petitioning ceremony by the people of that county.

Veep Boakai commended all Liberians for turning out to celebrate his birthday. He also called on partisans and all Liberians to work together for the development and progress of the nation, adding, “Think Liberia, build Liberia and love Liberia.”

Born unto the union of Mr. & Mrs. Johnson Tamba on May 16. Graduated from the Salvation Army School System " William Booth high school" in 2006/2007 academic year. He also went to the Young Men Christian Association (YMCA) computer program, where he graduated with a diploma in computer literate in 2008. He is now a senior student of the University of Liberia, Civil engineering department, reading Civil engineering. He is in a serious relationship with Mercy Johnson and has a junior boy name, Otis Success Johnson, born 2016, March 29.
