As health, education, and social-infrastructure development remain focus points for Margibi development agenda Rep. Ben A. Fofana has said that approximately USD1.5m has been disbursed over the years to promote education and empowerment for youth of Margibi County.

The amount includes scholarships, allotment for elementary, junior and senior high schools, and support for university education at home and abroad.

Funds were accrued from personal contributions, donations and cuts from the Margibi County Development Fund, (CDF) with support from the County Legislative Caucus, Rep. Fofana said.

He said additional USD 3,700 is being used on rehabilitation of damaged schools in the county to include Lanco Lapaye Senior High and the Kakata Junior and Senior High Schools, while construction on the modern police deport has begun.

He spoke to the Daily Observer at his Capitol Building office in Monrovia last week.

Rep. Fofana said under construction is a women’s center in Kakata as a means to empower women in Margibi.

Also under rehabilitation, he said is the Bola–Gibi Bridge to ease transportation difficulties, while plains are underway to pave major streets in Kakata and its environs, including the Ben A. Fofana Bridge.

In the works is the construction of a radio station that when completed will serve Margibi County and nearby   towns and villages, he said.
