Updated ‘Persons of Interest’ Screening List Released

The Special Presidential Task Force has released an updated list of ‘persons of interest’ for the ongoing compliance screening exercise on all General Auditing Commission (GAC) reports that are not currently being investigated by the Liberia Anti- Corruption Commission (LACC) or prosecuted by the Ministry of Justice (MOJ).
The Minister of State without Portfolio and Chair of the Special Presidential Task Force (SPTF), Cllr. J. Fonati Koffa, notes that the new list is also comprised of individuals ‘cleared’ by officers conducting the screening.
The SPTF Chair clarified that contrary to some media reports, those listed as ‘persons of interest’ are not being investigated for criminal acts, and that it is only publishing their names for expeditious notification purpose.
The Task Force further states that while the list will be updated every week depending on how those issues mentioned in the GAC reports are handled, the screening, which started on Monday June 6 will continue until all GAC reports earmarked are screened.
Those concerned may contact the following numbers: 0886837072/0770130629/0777972959, to schedule an appointment within a period of 30 days.
The Task Force additionally stresses that the screening is purely administrative, and not at an investigatory or prosecutorial level.
“Our role is not to investigate and prosecute the people linked in the GAC report. Our role at this point, is to do compliance screening, to assist the GAC, ensuring that answers to the questions that were left unanswered are resolved. If we find improprieties, we will refer those to the LACC,” the Task Force Chairman stated.
