A 12 year old girl was reportedly raped by two men in a bushy area of Kpayeakwelleh Town in Gou-nwolilar District, Gbarpolu County, a fortnight ago.
The victim told the Daily Observer that the incident happened recently when she went to her family’s farm to harvest some okras. While picking the okras, she alleged that the two men, one of whom she identified as Bryant Karmokai, pounced on her and forcibly undressed her.
“The men forcibly pushed me to the ground and (sexually abused) me one after the other, until I became helpless,” the victim told this newspaper in tears.
She claimed that “when the men were having sex with me, I (defecated) on myself and cried for help, but no one heard my voice.”
“After they finished carrying out the act, the men said they would kill me if I told anyone about what happened on the farm,” the victim narrated.
Based on the threat to her life, she said she was terrified and therefore decided not to disclose her ordeal to any of her relatives until she became terribly ill two weeks later.
As a result of the victim’s health, her mother reportedly bought some over the counter medications and administered them to her. But her condition worsened until she was rushed to a nearby clinic where nurses discovered that she had been raped. That was when she decided to reveal her rape ordeal to her parents.
The victim’s parents then reported their daughter’s allegation to the general town chief, who turned the matter over to the police.
During police interrogation of the suspects, the accused men reportedly admitted committing the crime, for which they are being detained and are awaiting trial.
