Determine Girls players celebrate after scoring one of their 10 goals against Island Queens at the ATS

Determine Girls are five points away from winning the Orange National League Women’s Division title following their 10-0 demolition of Island Queens at the ATS on Saturday.

Midfielder Ruth Wesseh’s hat trick plus a brace apiece from Hawa Conteh, Bontou Sylla, Paulinho Agbostu, and Success Gaye’s lone goal wasn’t a suppressing result as Island Queens’ poor run continues since the start of the season.

Determine Girls, who remain undefeated, currently have 34 points-eight points ahead of second place Blanco FC that are on 26 points.

Coach Robertson Waner and his girls can still win the title against Pro Sisters at the Technical Center on April 3, but only if Blanco fail to collect all three points against Ambassadors FC at the ATS.

The title race was a little tight between the leaders and the defending champions Earth Angels, but Angles slipped off following a four-point deduction for featuring an illegal player in their 5-0 win against Blanco FC and 2-2 draw against Determine Girls.

Consequently, Determine Girls were awarded the remaining two points from the draw, while Blanco got all three points from their 5-0 defeat against Angels.

Weekend Round-Up

It was a weekend of goal feast in the women’s division with 24 goals scored in four league games. Blanco FC took advantage of another bottom-side Pro Sisters when they trashed them 9-0 at the Nancy B. Doe Stadium in Kakata, Margibi County.

Star player Agatha Nimene got back in the golden boot race by scoring eight of the nine goals. Agatha now has 19 goals, two goals behind top goal scorer Hawa Conteh who is on 21, while Angeline Kieh sits third with 16 goals.

In the final game at the ATS, Earth Angels came from behind twice to settle to a 2-2 draw against World Girls. Melisa Gebah and Sangay Moulton scored put World Girls in front twice in each half, while Angeline Kieh scored both goals for the defending champions with the last goal scored from a spot-kick.

Elsewhere, Sr. Pro managed a 1-0 win against Hippo FC in Harbel, Margibi, as both teams continue to battle relegation. Hippo are currently on 11 points-a point above relegation. They are followed by Pro Sisters and Sr. Pro that are on 10 and 8 points respectively.

The league will continue on April 3, 2021. All attention will now be switched to the relegation battle.
