Unity Party Nimba Chair-Elect Promises ‘Vibrant Leadership’

The newly elected chairman of the ruling Unity Party Nimba Branch has promised to provide vibrant leadership that will take the party to victory in the 2017 presidential and legislative elections.

Speaking to the Daily Observer in an exclusive interview on Tuesday in Ganta, Pharez Dekpah said his coming into politics was not a mistake because politics is everybody’s business. He said he wants to ensure that Unity Party continues the good governance of the state.

Dekpah said with the level of development and security under the Unity Party led government, it is necessary for Liberians to join the party to continue the good work.

The new chairman, who is an entrepreneur in Ganta, said he will use his experience and popularity to get “everybody on board so as to secure a landslide victory for the party.”

“I am known in every part of Nimba and besides, I am well established with vast experience in business, so I am capable of providing good leadership for the party.”

The recent Unity Party local convention in Saclapea saw the emergence of a new group of officers who have never served in the government.

It was recently announced that some local government officials were going to contest for positions in local elections, something that surprisingly did not happen.

The process went on smoothly to the admiration of voters.

Those who vied for key positions such as chairman, co-chairman and secretary general were elected unopposed.

Dekpah called on partisans and elected officers to work together for the betterment of the party.

He said one person does not have all the ideas, and only unity and togetherness will make the party vibrant enough to win the minds of the public.
