Citizens under the umbrella of Suehn Mecca Citizens USA, last weekend donated several assorted medical items to two health centers in the district.

Suehn Mecca District is one of the three districts of Bomi County and is being represented in the lower house by Representative Haja Fata Siryon.

The donation, which was put at L$75,000, was presented to authorities of the Suehn and Mecca clinics by Mr. Mohammed Nabil Kromah, Mohammed Karneh, and Janneh S. Kanneh, local members of the association.

According to Kromah, the donation is intended to enhance services at the district’s clinics, noting that the assistance is just an initial contribution to the facilities.

He said that the organization has formulated plans to lobby with international groups and individuals, to provide medical equipment, drugs, other essential materials to the clinic and to benefit the people.

“The lack of drugs and medical equipment are major challenges confronting the health sector of our country and needs to be given serious and urgent attention by the Liberian government and stakeholders in the health sector,” Mr. Kromah emphasized.

At the same time, patients of the two health centers expressed their profound gratitude to their brothers and sisters for thinking about them back home.

The patients further called on citizens to cooperate with the clinic staff so that they will provide them the needed services.

Meanwhile, the Officers-in-Charge (OIC) of both health centers, Mr. Tamba Borbor and Mrs. Yeleseh Varmie, who received the items, thanked Suehn Mecca citizens in the U.S. for the gesture and promised that it will be used for the intended purpose. They also called on other humanitarian groups and leaders of the district for similar support.
