Year to remember for LISCR duo, Asiamuh Dahn and Edward Ledlum
It was not just a jubilant moment for the two LISCR FC players, Asiamuh Dahn and Edward Ledlum, after the team won the double first division titles, the Championship and the FA Cup, it was also a memorable moment that will go down in history for the duo. Playing for their former respective clubs, Swakomo FC and Brewerville United in the third division, they were relatively unknown until their appearance in the National County Sports Meet.
The duo’s performance in the annual national sports festival caught the attention of clubs in the top flight league. Defender Asiamuh, 18, used his defensive skills and ability to prevent his opponents from passing through, while for forward Ledlum, also 18, his eye-catching skills was a major threat to defenders during the competition.
Accordingly, the two former Montserrado County players’ performance did not go unnoticed. Defender Dahn became the first player to be spotted by a club, and was signed by Swakomo FC in the Paynesville sub-committee league, but LISCR thought it wise to secure the signature of the young defender after playing just two matches for Swakomo. Forward Ledlum was in action for his former club Brewerville United.
In less than a month after being crowned champions of the 2016/2017 National County Sports Meet, they become teammates again after signing a three-year deal with LISCR respectively. The signing of the two players was part of Gambian Coach Tapha Manneh’s preparation for the second half of the season.
There was little doubt that the two players will perform to expectation due to their ages and as debutants in the top flight league, but there was nothing for coach Tapha Manneh to worry about after the two youngsters’ performance during the later stages of the league.
Both became key figures for the team and earned their positions in coach Manneh’s lineup, with former Swakomo defender Dahn becoming one of the coach’s favorite players due to his splendid performance in defense.
For Dahn, it was not just an individual achievement for him, but also an achievement for his former club Swakomo FC, which recorded him as the second player from the team to play in the first division league and the first to win both the Championship and FA Cup.
It was not just a year for the two youngsters’ names to be recorded for playing in the top flight that every player wishes to play in, but it was a memorable year after winning three major trophies, the County Meet, the LAF 1st Division Championship and the FA Cup.
