Double champions LISCR FC and rivals Barrack Young Controllers continue to sign new breed of players as the new season draws closer. The new season promises to be another fascinating scene of stunning football actions with the two top clubs securing the signatures of outstanding players.

Former champions BYC yesterday added to their list of new players former LISCR forward Fallah Sheriff and former Keitrace defender Eugen Swen after signing both of them in a three-year deal for undisclosed fees.

Forward Sheriff penned a three-year deal with the Go Blue Boys after several seasons with the Gardnersville based LISCR FC from its junior club Gardnersville FC.

The forward missed the last six league matches of his former club after sustaining a knee injury against Nimba United on match day 16 of the 2016/2017 league season that kept him out of action for the rest of the season.

Eventually, after being out for at least four months, the young forward returned to the football pitch earlier this month after he was called up by national team head coach James Debbah for the just ended WAFU Cup of Nations in Ghana where he missed Lone Star’s final penalty that booted the team out of the tournament.

Sheriff, who was one of the key players in Coach Tapha Manneh’s team last season, made more than six starts and scored three goals, one of which was a crucial equalizer against ELWA United.

The 18-year-old was also a threat to his new club when his former club – LISCR settled to a goalless draw at the Blue Field on March 22, climaxing the first half of the season in the 3rd position with 19 points out of 11 games after drawing seven (more draws than any club) and winning four.

The former LISCR forward and national team player was also joined by former Keitrace defender Swen as the two latest players to join the former champions.

Sheriff, who won the ‘double championship’ with LISCR last season, posted on his official Facebook page, “I am grateful to God for another opportunity, new club, new home, and new teammates. Go Blue!”

Also in the transfer news, LISCR yesterday completed the signing of former BYC left-back Hilton Varney in a three-year deal for an undisclosed fee.

The left-back, who was later dropped by national team coach Debbah after Lone Star’s disappointing 3-0 defeat to Zimbabwe, joined the Shipping Boys as a free agent after several seasons with the Go Blue Boys. Varney was earlier this year called up to the national team due to his outstanding performances for his former club during the previous league season and the team’s participation in the CAF Champions League and the CAF Confederation Cup.

The double champions started the transfer campaign after completing the signing of two-goal punchers, Mark Paye and Amadia Kawah, on a three-year deal for undisclosed fees in August.
