Six Colleges to Compete in Inter-College Basketball Tournament

First place winner will receive L$10,000 plus a trophy and a certificate.

The second edition of the Inter College basketball tournament organized by Scorpion Incorporated is expected to kick off in Monrovia with six colleges competing for the title.

According to organizers, the tournament will kick off on Friday, November 23, at the famous Sports Commission on Broad Street with the University of Liberia going against Stella Maries in the first match.

The tournament will be played in a knockout format with the top three teams and the best loser advancing to semifinals. The grand final will be played on Friday, December 7, 2018.

First place winner will receive L$10,000 plus trophy and a certificate; second place winner L$6,000 plus a trophy and a certificate; while the third place winner will receive L$4,000 and a certificate. The first edition of the tournament was hosted in 2017 with Starz College defeating Blue Crest University College in the final.

Awards will also be given to top individual performers including the Most Valuable Player, Highest Point Scorer and Highest Three-pointer.

Participating colleges include, defending champions Starz College, University of Liberia, Blue Crest University College, Cuttington University, United Methodist University and Stella Maris Polytechnic.

The organizer of the event, Scorpion Incorporated, is an entrepreneur organization founded by six students of the Blue Crest University College. The organization is concerned with technological projects and events planning.
