Montserrado district 12 Representative, Dr. George Beyan Samah over the weekend donated bags of rice to the Muslim community in the district.
The donation of the 25 bags (25kg) of rice was part of the lawmaker’s way of identifying with the Muslim community as they observe the holy month of Ramadan and recommit themselves to their faith.
In a brief remark, Rep. Samah thanked the Muslims for remembering residents of the district and Liberians during their fasting period.
“In fulfillment to working with all stakeholders of the district, we have decided to identify with you during this holy month of Ramadan. I know you are not only fasting for yourselves but for our district and Liberia at large, therefore, as you go through this period of fasting, may Allah reward and grant you answers to all your prayers and be beneficial to the people of district 12,’ Rep. Dr. Samah said.
Dr. Samah also used the occasion to remind district residents about the ongoing free medical testing service in the district. His medical team has for the past months been conducting the free testing for residents within the district and beyond.
Hassan Laye Kenneh, chief Imam of District 12, who led a delegation of imams to the district office, lauded Rep. Samah for his kind gesture to the district’s Muslim community during their holy month of fast and prayers. “The donation of the rice is not really what matters, but it is the lawmaker’s concern shown to Muslims in the district that made us happy to come to his call to identify with us,” Imam Kenneh said.
The Chief Imam also recommended that the Muslim community is represented in the district office so that their concerns can easily be channeled to the district lawmaker.
