Rape Victim’s Family Rejects Police Report, Demands DNA Test

Camer Moore, mother of the late Vivian Wright: "We are hurt. We are aggrieved. We are upset. We believed the Police’s report is not true. They are protecting the real perpetrator to face justice."

The singular arrest and subsequent forwarding for prosecution of steel bender Saah Joseph (not Senator Saah Hardy Joseph) for the rape and murder of 15-year-old Vivian Wright, has come under serious and bitter criticism by the rape victim’s family, who believed that the real perpetrator should have been one Rev. Alfred Tom Kollie.

The victim’s family, including the grandmother, uncle and mother, Camer Moore, on a local morning show on Wednesday, January 9, 2019, have therefore appealed to the Liberia National Police (LNP) to conduct a “DNA test” on the sperm found in their daughter’s remains to essentially and scientifically prove (corroborate) the real rapist and murderer of Vivian Wright.

In the status report of the Liberia National Police (LNP), one of the suspects, Saah Joseph, the steel bender (24 years old) has been accused of the ‘rape and murder’ of Vivian Wright (15 years old), and there is sufficient ground for him (Saah Joseph) to be prosecuted.

The Police’s report also exonerates the second suspect, Rev. Alfred Tom Kollie.

Vivian Wright, 15, in her last attire before her death on December 13, 2018.

But, the victim’s family utterly differed with the Police, arguing that the accused (Saah Joseph), a contracted steel bender (who previously blamed Rev. Kollie) and a ‘total stranger’ to rape and murder their daughter (Vivian Wright) in the Reverend’s house (the Contractor/boss), and tossed the remains (body) over the fence and furthermore dropped the deceased clothes and shoes in her (Camer) yard.

“We are hurt. We are aggrieved. We are upset. We believed the Police’s report is not true. They are protecting the real perpetrator from facing justice. And in order of our grievances to be settled and to be convinced, we want a DNA test to be conducted on our daughter on the sperms,” Camer Moore said.

Police’s spokesperson, Moses Carter, also during the local morning talk show, admitted to the Police Status report on the indictment of Saah Joseph but said the Police is open to options, including an autopsy on the sperm found in the deceased.

“As we said, we are open to options and, based on a request, especially from you the victim’s family, we will take it into consideration to do the DNA,” Mr. Carter said.

Talkshow host, Henry Costa, in an energetic tone, told the victim’s family to ask the Police to conduct the DNA test at two different hospitals, but if the Police failed, he can solicit help to finance the DNA test.

It may be recalled, last week, the mother of the 15-year-old daughter Vivian Wright said according to police report, her daughter was raped, killed and her remains was thrown over the fence on the Old field Community, bordering the Tusafield Road Community in New Georgia, Gardnersville.

She intoned that she will not rest until authorities bring those behind the savage crime to face justice.

Madam Camer Moore, 30,  the mother of Vivian Wright, said what happened would haunt her for the rest of her life if the real perpetrator does not face justice.

“As long as Vivian’s case is not settled, as long as the rapist and murderer  is not punished, I will not feel calm,” said Vivian.

Vivian died on Thursday, December 14 when she to visit a friend, Blessing — a daughter of Rev. Alfred Tom Kollie who, among three suspects, were arrested for the brutal rape and murder of the 15-year-old.

Moore made the remarks on Saturday, December 29, 2018 at the Iron Factory Sports field during the honoring of Montserrado County District #13 Representative elect, Edward Papay Flomo, alias Color Green.
