President George Weah at the head of a high-level government delegation, departed the country on Friday, February 22, 2019, for a four-day official visit to the State of Israel, an Executive Mansion release has said.
The President’s visit, according to the release, is in honor of an invitation extended him by the Government and people of Israel.
While in Israel, President Weah will hold discussions with Israeli President and Prime Minister Reuven Rivlin and former Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu respectively, focusing on the creation of investment opportunities in agriculture, health, security and energy sectors by Israeli financiers.
Weah will also participate in a traditional and cultural “Tree Planting” ceremony, an historic event for every visiting President or Head of State.
Those accompanying President Weah include ministers of Foreign Affairs Minister Gbehzohngar Findley, Daniel Ziankahn of Defense, Mogana Flomo of Agriculture and Gesler Murray of Lands, Mines and Energy.
Others are ministers of Health Whilhelmina Jallah, Finance and Development Planning, Samuel Tweah, Information, Len Eugene Nagbe, the Head of the National Investment Commission, Molewuleh Gray and Monrovia City Mayor, Jefferson T. Koijee.
While the President is away, Nathaniel F. McGill, Minister of State for Presidential Affairs, will chair the affairs of the cabinet in close consultation with Vice President Jewel Howard-Taylor and via telephone conversation with the President.
