Responding to the citizens’ concerns, President Weah emphasized the need for people to always use dialogue to address situations and not protest.

President George Weah has called for news new ideas, new methodologies in doing things to “solve country’s problems”

According to an Executive Mansion press release, the Liberian leader while in Grand Bassa County,  came face to face in real-time with untold deplorable conditions of ordinary Liberians.

The President, the Executive Release said called for more support to his national development strategy, as a means of moving Liberian forward.

“We must adopt new ideas, new methodologies in doing things as leaders of this country so that we more concretely solve the country’s long-forgotten President said Thursday, April 22, 2021, in Compound #2, Grand Bassa County during a town hall meeting.

The release added, “the recycled methods which were clad in the tendency of sitting behind desks in Monrovia and guessing things to do for our people will take this country nowhere.”

The President said the conditions of the people of Liberia which had remained stagnate if not retrogressing since the days of old do not lie in rhetoric and politicking of the past.

” But rather in a new approach that comes with new methodology and genuine mindset for development as being done under this watch,” the release.

President Weah added that the evolving new waves of strategic thinking and development drives underway will shift the national development paradigm, instead of sticking with those who squandered the opportunities they had to make Liberia an oasis of development.

He informed citizens of Compound #2 that his government’s development blueprint is good and working in their interest, pledging more development programs for them in the ensuing years.

“As the President of the Republic, H.E. Dr. George Manneh Weah continues to put long-forgotten forgotten long communities in the country as a result of his nationwide tours, so he continues to behold the harsh realities facing rural people, and at the same time conceiving more new ways in shifting the country’s development paradigm,” the Executive Mansion press release said.

President Weah assured the people that, working with lawmakers, their quest for development will be met.

“He applauded the Legislative Caucus of Grand Bassa County for being united, stressing that it is the only way progress and development will be achieved,” added the release.

The citizens had earlier appealed to the President to extend his development overtures to their District, including upgrading the road, public schools, clinics, and many others.

“They also appealed to President Weah to prevail on companies operating in the area to give them a fair share of the resources,” the release added.

Compound #2 plays host to some of the logging companies operating in Grand Bassa County.

  1. I got interested in the title of this article because I thought we were getting our points of view through or someone somewhere was listening to us and relaying to the president. But I see that no matter how long you wash the hands of the baboon, it will never become white as you hope to see.

The President: “The recycled methods which were clad in the tendency of sitting behind desks in Monrovia and guessing things to do for our people will take this country nowhere.”

Thank you! You see, that’s exactly what you have been doing for the past 3 years. You have been sitting in Monrovia, hardly allowing yourself to be accessed even by some of your ministers or lawmakers. You’ve been spending precious time watching Champions League, Premier League, Serie A, etc. You’ve been spending valuable thoughtful time playing ludu with your lazy partisans in New Kru Town. You’ve been spending indispensable working time playing football with your boys, who should be in school or working, in your yards.

I would have love to see you go down to your people in Grand Kru in Year One, ask them to give you a plot of land to build your private residence from where you can receive guests and diplomats. In so doing, you could have opened the South Eastern Region economically, socially and politically. This was pragmatic and an exemplification of a Gbekugbeh.

Liberians, the next time you see Weah in the hinterland again is when elections are drawing closer. He will come to lie to you to give him another 6 years to waste our time and put us behind the rest of the world. We are the only country in West Africa still living in the primitive age. We can be compared to no other country in the sub region, even the poorest you may know.

Dear Liberians, we need to change the Constitution of Liberia. Our lawmakers are no longer lawmakers but development agent. Weah perceive them to be thus, and so no need we appoint superintendents in the various counties. Our elected officials do NOT know why they were elected. We need to teach them!

Companies operating in a given county in Liberia, under our constitution, is NOT to give any fair share to such county for chopping. That company is entitled to employ Liberians from the length and breadth of the country, and pay taxes and duties to the government of Liberia.

This indeed can be considered New Methodology Towrads Development in Liberia. May Liberians not be fooled by people with no wit!

  2. As usual Weah’s remarks are machiavellianistic; they do not come as a surprise to many who have become familiar with his worn out and unsubstantiated speeches.

And of course, the logic behind his rhetorical ques is to tell the people “what they want to hear” even if he does not mean to match his words with deeds. For after all is said and done, the Liberian people are the most forgettable and forgivable people on the planet.

Now, I will analyze a few sentences of his speeches given in Bassa County and the rest will be left with the reader to see why I characterized them as being machiavellinistic.

To begin with, the president says, “We must adopt new ideas, new methodologies in doing things as leaders of this country so that we more concretely solve the country’s long-forgotten.”

He continues, “The recycled methods which were clad in the tendency of sitting behind desks in Monrovia and guessing things to do for our people will take this country nowhere.”
But rather in a new approach that comes with new methodology and genuine mindset for development as being done under this watch,” the release.”

Nevertheless the president makes a strange “turnaround” as he continues to talk to the folks. In conclusion, and as reported by the Daily Observer, “… He informed citizens of Compound #2 that his government’s development blueprint blueprint is good and working in their interest, pledging more development programs for them in the ensuing years.”

Well, if Weah’s current Pro-Poor platform for development and progress had been working and achieving maximum results for the people as he says in the latest statement, then why is he expressing the need for adopting new approaches in developing the country? Is he ashamed to admit that he has failed? Does he understand the paradox in his mixed messages?

  3. Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha !
Future Shock ! George always boast of being born, what is the name of that slump place he came from ? Never mind. Always saying he was born poor. And he knows what it means to be poor. Others agreed with him.
But when he came face to face with reality, and what it actually means to be poorer than poverty, it became FUTURE SHOCK during is countrywide tour, to see real poverty. And how could people be allowed to in that state of conditions. He thought he had seen poverty. He thought he had lived in real time poverty.
The reality is becoming more clear, more clearer than any thing before. The question is, now that he knows that, how does he sleep at night as the leader of the second poorest nation on earth ? How does he do that at night, having everything that he wants and needs.
If the present political system which has Lawmakers as influential countries’ legislative caucus leaders is described, the title will be: How The Lawmakers As Counties Legislative Caucus Leaders Underdeveloped Their Respective Counties.
A pissed of Finance Minister Samuel Tweah has come to the conclusion very fast. And during his recent countrywide tour, George always asked the citizens of each county if the county has lawmakers ? George understands that since 2005, the counties have been receiving funding through their respective caucuses. So it was just fair to ask. And Samuel knows that too, as Finance Minister, because all the counties’ financial bank accounts are empty. ZERO $.
So in what manner do county(s) legislative caucus leaders underdeveloped their respective counties ? Lets take a look at Maryland County. The head of the legislative caucus in that county is House of Representatives Speaker, Speaker Chambers. What time does the Speaker have to attend to the county and pressing national issues ? Perhaps, only when the County Development Funds are in the account. That’s when the caucus is activated. Money is flying around and through the caucus. The Superintendent is a political figurehead Superintendent or spectator. In the game.
So far, how is that county progressing under House Speaker Chambers ? George had an ear full from the citizens and what his regime must do and not doing for their county. The worsened underdevelopment in that county was not placed at the feet of the legislative county caucus, headed by House Speaker, Chambers. But directly at George and his CDC regime.
This example is experienced by all the counties headed by lawmakers as head of their caucuses. And so George is asking, does this county or that county has lawmakers ?
George knows the reason to that question. He too was received ninety thousand US dollars as part of the County Development Funds for Montserrado County . When he was first elected as Senator for that count. He promised to construct hand pumps and latrines in Todee District( not show about the spelling of that name). That was during the era of the past regime, when happy days were here to stay and papa na come home, and you eat I eat, was all over the counties, run and operated through their legislative caucuses.
George knows what he is talking about when he calls for New Methodology Towards Development. He’s coming to reality that the present political structure has give more political and economical development authority to lawmakers as county(s) legislative caucus leaders can not go on. Leaving the regime to take the blame for not developing the country and its people. George knows that millions and millions and millions of US dollars have been poured into the counties, with no real results.
Yellow machines are left the bushes. Or sold to others businesses. Money for bridges were never spent. And so on and so on and so on.
A pissed of Finance Minister, Samuel Tweah could not controlled his anger, when he payoff some counties legislative caucus leaders 3 million US dollars from the China Union’s Social Responsibility funds. Three million US dollars divided, two counties boasted of constructing two schools. Representative Dixon Seeboe walking around Monrovia with 20,000 US dollars. And all the receiving counties’ accounts are empty. Waiting for another round of County Development Funds.
Samuel, according to the Daily Observer has threatened to close all accounts. And the former Superintendent of Maryland, now Representative has threatened Samuel with contempt of Legislature.
Now that reality check and future shock have George thinking about a new kind of Methodology Towards Development, this is the time for Samuel Tweah to act in consultation with George and other Superintendents. It is time to act. If 2023 means anything.
But one thing though, how were the lawmakers actually elected as head of the respective counties ? Was it through county wide democratic constitutional elections of one man one vote ? That’s how House Speaker Chambers was elected to head that count’s legislative body ? So how much money was spent to hold the election that elected the Speaker ?
When there are many of the mindset that the counties cannot be decentralized, because the nation is broke. The ten thousand US dollars raised by citizens of that county could elect their own county officials. They can bring about their own development if given the chance to decentralize. They have the ability to do so and make their way local laws.
The idea of a county legislative caucus owned and operated and controlled by lawmakers was all a foolish political idea that has left the counties and its citizens underdeveloped.
Perhaps, the ideas of Ellen Johnson Sirleaf and Dr. Amos Sawyer. The two bad Amigos for Liberia.
Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha !
Its Been A Long Time Coming, But Change Gonna Come. And Soon ! By Force or Politically, It Gonna Come. That’s Up To The Leadership Of That God Forsaken Land. It Gonna Come .
