A detachment of the Liberian National Police (LNP) assigned in Gbarpolu County Electoral District #3 recently hosted a daylong forum raising citizens’ awareness on a violence-free electoral process under the theme, “Say no to Violence and Yes to Peace.”
It was facilitated by the county’s police commander Douwoe Goldoe, who educated the electorates on the importance of the slogan for the pending elections.
Goldoe informed the citizens that the police and members of the community watch will collaborate closely with the voters and poll workers on October 10 to ensure that peace prevails.
Madam Goldoe told the gathering that the international community is interested in the transition in Liberia that involves the peaceful transfer of power from one democratically-elected government to another.
The police commander said the partners will be proud of Liberia and will continue to assist the country in its development goals.
Gbarma Statutory District police commander Ishmael Siryon thanked the residents for taking time off their busy schedules to participate in the peace awareness forum.
