MOCI Establishes Petroleum Price Enforcement Team

-Says no shortage of petroleum on the market

Authorities at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) and the management of the Liberia Petroleum Refining Company (LPRC) have informed the public that there is no petroleum shortage on the Liberian market.

A joint petroleum price enforcement team has been constituted to avert any attempt by filling stations or individuals to hoard petroleum products and create artificial shortage, thereby leading to a hike in prices as this is a crime under Liberian Law, the MoCI statement said.

The ministry hereby requests the public to report any individual or filling stations selling petroleum products above the approved pump price of US$3.55 or its Liberian dollar equivalent of L$540 for gasoline and US$3.70 of its Liberian dollar equivalent of L$560 for diesel (fuel oil).

The ministry said any change to the stipulated price will be officially communicated. All concerned are asked to take due note and act accordingly.
