MoCI Begins General Inspection Today

Authorities of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) says it will commence general inspections of all business establishments today, November 19 and ends on Saturday, December 15, 2018.

According to the ministry’s statement over the weekend, the inspection exercise is necessary to protect consumers, and to also ensure continuous compliance with ‘applicable laws procedures and standards.’

Henceforth, the release said inspectors will only conduct field inspection from Monday to Thursday.

The inspection will accordingly, be guided by the ministry’s general inspection guidelines with focus on the following cardinal areas, including business registration enforcement, general commodity standard inspection and liquor registration enforcement.

In a related development, the meteorology Division at the National Standard Laboratory will be carrying out the Bureau of Industrial Services general verification exercise on weights and measures, including all establishments where relevant, such as supermarkets, butchery shops and filling stations.

This process is to ensure that consumers receive the required quantity of petroleum products and other consumable commodities.

Meanwhile, the MoCI reminds all business establishments to put price tag on their commodities in both Liberian and United States Dollars based on the prevailing rate as prescribed by authorities of the Central Bank of Liberia.
