The Norwegian partner to the Department of Community Services (DCS) of the Liberia Annual Conference Mission Alliance has committed itself to continue supporting the Church through DCS for the next five years in its development drive.
The Country Director of Mission Alliance to Liberia Rune A. Oygard said Mission Alliance Liberia is an Evangelical Diaconal mission organization that is engaged in an extensive work to support the poor, disabled and the marginalized people in Asia, South-America and Africa.
He assured that they will continue to work with the Department of Community Services in the areas of community development with components like education, healthcare, income-generating activities and livelihood.
He said they will closely work also with local authorities, organizations and communities to ensure that the target groups participate and have ownership to their projects.
He spoke over the weekend in Gbarnga City, Bong County at a two-day Round Table Stakeholders discussion for the extension of the community Integrated Education Program held at a local resort.
He expressed his organization’s support to the Church through the Department of Community Services of the Liberia Annual Conference to go into a five-year agreement as they give funding from the people of Norway to better the living conditions of the poor, disabled and the marginalized.
The Department of Community Services ran four programs through the support and funding from Mission Alliance and Norway in 2008, beginning with its first program called the Community Development Program (CODEPRO) in the 15 counties through the construction of hand pumps, schools, clinics and other social services. They also instituted the Community Integrated Education Program (CIEP) in 2011, and the Child Sponsorship Program (CSP) in 2012 as well as the Giving Hope to a Child Norway Program.
In a related development, the Mission Alliance Country Director indicated that there is a criteria for the selection of partners with preference for faith based partners, compatible strategy, compatible thematic areas, ability to work effectively and achieve results and organizational capacity.
