A man lying face down in a swampy area in Caldwell was discovered on Friday, August 1, having gone missing for three days, his family members reported.
Roland Thompson’s decomposing corpse was pulled out of an uncovered septic tank by community dwellers days after his family had been frantically searching for him.
According to Mohammed, a relative of the deceased, the late Roland Thompson went to a wake on July 29, 2014 and never returned home.
“He never came back that morning after the wake, and after three days of looking for him, we decided to check behind this house where one man said he had fallen before,” stated Mohammed.
Witnesses on the scene said one of Roland’s friends had also fallen into the septic tank years ago, and that’s why they decided to check for the missing man there.
‘This is not the first time someone has fallen into it, Roland’s close friend that pulled him out of the water said.
Herds of community dwellers stood watching as the two men frantically tried to remove the late Thompson from the water, but everyone was afraid to assist due to the Ebola outbreak
“Someone please help us get him out! You, too, have to die one day and you will need us to bury you,” shouted one of the men who pulled Thompson from the water.
According to Mohammed, the Ministry of Health was notified about the finding of the deceased man and they were told to wait before moving or burying his corpse.
“They never came, so we called our Commissioner and she gave us the go ahead to remove him, and that’s what we’re doing right now,” added Mohammed.
The late Roland Thompson has since been buried and no charges have been filed.
