Since its establishment in 2015 with 27 student-athletes, Monrovia Football Academy has grown to build its numerical strength. With plans to expand its student-athletes number to 90 by September, the academy will this weekend conduct another recruitment exercise for additional student-athletes.
According to the academy, the exercise will be held on Saturday, June 23, at the Blue Field, the home ground of first division side Barrack Young Controllers in the PHP Community.
The recruitment process will be open to deserving student-athletes from ages 7-12, to enroll at the Academy for the next school year.
Applicants will be required to sit an academic entrance exam and undergo football tryouts. The exercise will commence from 9:00 Am – 5:00 PM.
Recruited student-athletes need to meet up with five requirements in order to become eligible players for the academy, including achieving 50% or higher of the entrance exam, the ability and potential to play football, among others.
The academy currently has 68 student-athletes with an ultimate mission to reach a maximum capacity of 160 students from across Liberia. The MFA is the first school in Liberia to combine high-quality education with professional football development.
