MFA, Orange Liberia Announce Second Annual Youth Football Tournament

Monrovia Football Academy and Orange Liberia have announced that their second annual youth football tournament will begin on Saturday, March 9, 2019.

According to a release from the academy, the 2019 Orange-MFA Youth Football Festival will run from March 9-April 27. Boys and girls ages 12 and under will be eligible to play in the tournament. Participating counties in this year’s edition include Bomi, Bong, Gbarpolu, Grand Brassa, Grand Cape Mount, Lofa, Margibi, Montserrado, and Nimba.

The tournament will also be used as a mechanism for the recruitment of new student-athletes for the Academy.

The final will be played on Saturday, April 27, 2019 in Monrovia. “MFA and Orange Liberia are thrilled to provide this opportunity for Liberia’s bright and talented youth,” the release said.

In the previous edition held from April 14-28, 2018, MFA and Orange hosted the youth football tournament in six of Liberia’s 15 counties, reaching more than 2,000 children. MFA later welcomed 240 young footballers from the six counties, as well as more than 2,500 fans, to the Antoinette Tubman Stadium in Monrovia for the festival’s final.
