-Including statutory rape against 3 year-old girl
A 39-year-old man was on Tuesday, February 19, 2019, arraigned before the Monrovia City Court to face a charge of statutory rape against a three-year-old child.
Bobby Doebah, a residence of the Smythe Road Community in Sinkor, Monrovia, was said to have been arrested by officers of the Liberia National Police on Sunday, February 11, 2019.
According to the charges, the case involves several other minors, who were allegedly abused sexually by Doebah.
Doebah is currently being held without bond at the Monrovia Central Prison, because the crime for which he has been charged does not qualify him for bail.
He has denied the charges, while undergoing investigation at the headquarters of the LNP.
In her complaint, the victim’s mother, identified as Esther, claimed that her three-year-old daughter (named withheld) had been sexually abused by defendant Doebah.
Esther also claimed that she always saw her daughter at the home of the defendant, but did not know his intent until the minor became sick.
Two of Doebah’s alleged victims, who were made to testify against the defendant during the police’s probe, claimed that Doebah on numerous occasions, including February, 10 and 11, 2019, sexually abused them by inserting his fingers into their private parts at different intervals.
In the case of the three-year-old girl, a witness, Jamesetta Kekular, alleged that on February 11, at 3:00 p.m., she saw the accused and one of his victims lying down in a big chair at the home of the defendant, of which the victim told her that the accused had inserted his finger in her private part on many occasions.
Another witness, Mary Dahn, claimed that during the month of January, 2019, she saw the defendant kissing the victim in front of her.
A medical report from the Hope for Women International Health Center on AB Tolbert Road, Paynesville, established that all the kids had bruises in their private parts.
Police investigations claimed that, though defendant Doebah denied the accusations, they were compelled to charge him based on the witnesses and the victims’ testimonies as collaborated by the medical report.
