The Liberty Young Achievers’ Awards (LYA) has unveiled plans of events for second edition of its 2019 achievers’ awards. The plan of events was unveiled to journalists over last weekend at a press conference held in Monrovia.
At a news conference in Monrovia, Major Danhsaw, Public Relations Officer for Liberty Young Achievers’ Awards, said there have been few things that LYA decided to bring to the table, the first of which was to change the name from Liberia Youth Awards to what is currently known as “Liberty Young Achievers Awards.”
According to organizers, it was duly communicated to them that no individual/private/corporate body can own or host any event or program bearing “LIBERIA or LONE STAR,” as a nomenclature, rather than the Liberian government.
He said this years’ program was launched under the theme: Rebirth & Re-branding of the Liberian Youth Awards; and attended by a number of stakeholders. According to him, it is imperative that governments provide genuine and appropriate tools for the development of the youth and so as to impact positively on the communities in which they find themselves.
He said that the goal of the Liberty Young Achievers Awards is to recognize young innovative Liberians and entrepreneurs that are so passionate about every career they find themselves in, that the LYA can do nothing less than to support their dreams and keep applauding them and awarding every hard-working young Liberian every year. He also appealed to philanthropists and other individuals to support the scheme through partnerships and/or sponsorship to make it successful.
Meanwhile, the project coordinator, Mr. Fred Ola-Ola revealed the scope the new awards scheme would take. He said they would honor over 35 individuals and companies for excellence in their respective fields. The awards night is scheduled for the 8th of June 2019, while nominations are open from March 16 to 31, 2019.
He clarified that LYA is consistent with a course to recognize innovative Liberians and challenge others to aspire to greater heights. He encouraged the public to vote for their favorites when the nominations and voting process is open to the public.

“With this on the mind of those who participated in the last year’s LYA and won award/awards, it is certain that they might be nominated again to get the world seeing what they have been involved in within a year,” Dahnsaw noted. He described the awards program as one of the finest in Liberia, because it highlights almost everything about young Liberian achievements in encouraging the young ones to do better in their next step towards success and not give up on their dreams.
“Many Liberians grade this as one of the most benefiting awards in the country and they appreciate that it is hosted in Liberia and for Liberians,” he stated.
