Lonestar Cell MTN has announced that the application process for its Y’ello Scholars Internship and Graduate Trainee programs is now open. These initiatives provide capacity-building opportunities for talented university students and recent university graduates through rigorous on-the-job training.
Trained by Lonestar Cell MTN professionals, the participants work on real projects from the beginning to the end of the project’s life cycle. In addition, interns and graduate trainees alike also work in the areas of their interest.
Before joining the 2019-2021 Y’ello Scholars Graduate Trainee Program, twenty-five-year-old Veldis Makor had earned a degree in Civil Engineering from Stella Maris Polytechnic University. After completing the program and further broadening his academic foundation with certificates in Design Thinking and Business Analytics as a result of MTN sponsorship, Lonestar Cell MTN hired him as a Fraud Analyst in Revenue Assurance.
“I have evolved professionally,” he said, “and my confidence level has hit new heights. I was fortunate to be a Y’ello Scholar. I am proud to be an MTNer,” he added.
Lonestar Cell MTN CEO, Rahul De said, “The Y’ello Scholars programs are an opportunity for Lonestar Cell MTN to develop the next generation of young Liberian leaders, particularly in the field of telecommunications. We’ve found that this opportunity produces well-equipped, job-ready leaders prepared for careers within Lonestar Cell MTN and beyond.”
He added that the Y’ello Scholars programs are encouraging young women to apply. “They too can make a significant contribution to the industry,” he said.
The Y’ello Scholars Internship Program offers positions for university sophomores and juniors. Graduating senior students and recent graduates who have been out of university for no more than a year are eligible for the Y’ello Scholars Graduate Trainee Program, which offers 12 to 18 month trainee positions.
All applicants must be 18 to 25 years at the time of application submission, computer literate, a Liberian citizen, and must have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or above. Those who meet the eligibility requirements can apply by sending a cover letter, their CV/resume, a two-minute video stating their motivation for the program, a copy of their current control, and grade sheets for the previous semester. Applicants interested in the Graduate Trainee Program should submit a copy of their degree or graduation clearance. Applications close on Sunday, May 16, 2021.
