Lonestar Cell Foundation has donated one hundred 25kg bags of rice and US$3000 to the Hope for Women International medical center in Paynesville and the C. H. Rennie Hospital in Kakata, Margibi County, as part of it corporate social responsibility activities.
The chairman of the Foundation, Massaquoi Kamara, made the presentation over the weekend to the two institutions as the foundation’s way of celebrating with partners.
“This is Christmas week. We at Lonestar, it is customary that we celebrate with partners, particularly those that take their time and serve the community. We empower them at some point to do the things that we can’t do for all of those that partner with us,” he said.
“We have come to spend the Christmas with you and would like to present 40 bags of 25kg rice and US$1500 on behalf of the Board of Trustees,” he said. “The C. H. Rennie Hospital also received 60 bags of 25KGs rice and US$1500.”
According to him, the foundation has seen some institutions, including Hope For Women International and C. H. Rennie Hospital, that have performed well in the health sector and continue to provide good healthcare services.
“We have people who don’t have much but come at the Hope for Women International and get quality care. They opened themselves up to provide all the patient needs to live that many hospitals can’t do for patients or may not do,” Mr. Kamara said.
He told the Medical Director for Hope for Women International, Dr. Wilhemina Jallah, that Lonestar Cell Foundation will continue to be with her and the institution as well as other workers as Hope For Women International remains one of Lonestar’s babies in terms of support.
“You can rely on us and we will continue to be with you and the institution, including your clients (patients). We will continue to buttress your efforts to ensure that Liberians get good healthcare,” he said.
In remarks, the Chief Medical Officer and Medical Director Hope for Women International, Dr. Wilhemina Jallah, lauded the Lonestar Cell Foundation for their support to the institution and clients during this season.
“On behalf of Hope for Women International, staff and all of our patients, we want to say thank you for coming to spend the season with us. It is not strange because Lonestar Cell has been with us throughout and supported us at the time,” she said.
She said the foundation has been supporting her organization to carry on what Hope for Women International is doing to help the Liberian people, and promised the donation will be used for its intended purpose.
C. H. Rennie Medical Director, Dr. Kumblytee L. Johnson, expressed her appreciation on behalf of the hospital to Lonestar Cell Foundation in reaching out to celebrate the season with them.
“We appreciate the gifts a lot because we didn’t call you or run behind you, and it means that C. H. Rennie is on the mind of Lonestar Cell Foundation. Our patients will have a festive season,” she said.
