The Liberia Oldtimers National Association (LONA) will hold a 3-day knockout tournament in memory of the late Cllr. Theophilus C. Gould, who served the organization for many years as president before his death.
According to a release signed by LONA’s Secretary General, Kofa W. Konwro, the tournament is expected to begin on Sunday, Feb. 10, 2019 at the Paynesville Oldtimers pitch.
According to the fixture, Paynesville Legends will take on Super BOSAC in the exhibition match at 9 a.m. The real action takes place at 10:30 a.m. when Bong Mines will play Genesis; BOTFA will clash with Lakpazee and Omega will clash with Bench.
Other games on the same day are: St. Tolbert will take on Paynesville; NPA versus Amuenue and ISA will clash with Kakata.
On the second day of the tournament, Duport Road will meet Snowhill; Alpha will play New Georgia; Veterans will clash with West Point and Central Monrovia will play 72nd Oldtimers.
Others on the second day are: Chocolate City versus Bame and Sinkor will close the day with a clash against Cowfield.
Konwro said the fixture for the final game will be announced after the results of the two-day games are known.
He said LONA as an organization cannot forget the contributions of their former president and, though he is not with them, they want to keep his memory alive.
“Cllr. Gould made a lot of sacrifices for LONA and therefore we want our teams to recognize the importance of the tournament,” he said. “The tournament will be held every year.”
