LISCR FC’s midfielder Allen Njie and newly signed forward Sam Jackson have returned to camp after missing out on LISCR’s first leg match against Algerian side USM Bel Abbes in the CAF Confederation Cup.
The duo was ruled out of the first leg match due to injuries. Midfielder Njie, who featured in the national team’s 1-0 win against Zimbabwe, withdrew from the trip to Algeria due to a hamstring injury while newly signed forward Jackson was ruled out for two weeks with tear muscles sustained from the national team camp.
LISCR suffered a disappointing 4-0 loss against USM Bel Abbes during the first-leg. Head Coach Tapha Manneh expressed disappointment and also attributed his team’s defeat to the long travel and weather condition. “We aren’t satisfied with the result. My team was slow on the pitch and it’s not a good result for us. We traveled a long distance and were unable to train as scheduled. We had just one training session and my players didn’t adapt to the weather. Let me congratulate our opponents for taking their chances in the game. Now, we have a lot of work to do when we return home and we are going to prepare,” he said.
The return of Njie and Jackson have come as a major boost for coach Manneh as he and his boys look to upset the Algerians by overturning the 4-0 result of the first leg.
The second leg is slated for Wednesday, December 5, at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium.
