Liberians Urged to Seek Information on Diabetes Prevention

The Executive Director of the Liberia Diabetes and Training Center (LDTC), Mr. James Momoh, told a congregation of Liberians last Sunday to seek information on diabetes, including symptoms, treatment and its prevention.
Speaking at the United Methodist Church in Monrovia, Momoh said Liberians must take advantage of the services of the Liberia Diabetes and Training Center and protect themselves against diabetes.
He told the large congregation that his organization’s goal is to provide awareness; counseling and testing to Liberians to enable them to follow effective steps to control or manage it to avoid complications.
“Diabetics often have blurred vision, hypertension and other related problems,” he said, noting that such patients’ wounds normally don’t heal and often lead to amputation.
He said his organization’s duty is to create awareness, provide testing as well as information on how to prevent diabetes, and for those who are diabetic to manage it.
He, meanwhile, said a match will be held in Monrovia on Saturday to create awareness and provide testing to interested participants.
