The management of the Liberia Electricity Corporation (LEC) over the weekend honored the former Secretary-General of the West African Power Pool (WAPP), Amadou Diallo, for his dedicated role played at the corporation during his tenure.
Prior to the end of his tenure, Mr. Diallo represented WAPP in Liberia and was assigned with the LEC to ensure that countries connected to the project were fully electrified.
Joseph T. Mayah, LEC Deputy Chief Executive Officer, lauded Mr. Diallo, describing his tenure at the corporation as “praise worthy” since he was always available to listen to the plight of employees and advised them appropriately.
The honoring ceremony was held at a resort in Monrovia on August 7.
He assured Mr. Diallo that his good work at the corporation would always be remembered and appreciated by the people of Liberia.
For his part, Mr. Diallo applauded the LEC Management for providing him the opportunity to work with them.
He said LEC has been cooperative, ensuring that the dream to connect Liberia to the rest of the WAPP network to a single grid was realized.
Mr. Diallo stated that with the help of LEC, the WAPP was energized as they handled problems related to the running of wires and other electric work in the country.
“I’m so honored for this appreciation, and therefore, I remain grateful as you can see through my deepest appreciation to the LEC Management,” Mr. Diallo said.
The program was climaxed with a gowning ceremony as well as the naming of Mr. Diallo as Mr. Tamba Diallo.
Among those who attended the ceremony were Guinea’s Ambassador to Liberia Alhaji Abdullah Doré, Mr. Curtis Lavalle, Acting CEO of LEC, etc.
