The official launching of the Montserrado County Land Coordinating Center is expected to take place today in the Township of Caldwell outside Monrovia.
According to a release from the Land Commission, the event will bring together officials of government, including Township Commissioners, partners and stakeholders.
The release named the Chairman of the Governance Commission Dr. Amos Sawyer as keynote Speaker at tomorrow’s event.
The Montserrado County Land Coordinating Center will receive land dispute cases from across the county with the aim to resolving them through the traditional Alternative Dispute Resolution method.
The ADR method calls for the peaceful settlement and resolution of land dispute cases by the disputants themselves with the Land Commission facilitating the process.
The Alternative Dispute Resolution method was adopted as a result of recommendations from several stakeholders during a nationwide consultation in 2010.
The Land Commission is currently piloting the ADR methodologies in Bong, Margibi, Nimba, Lofa and Maryland Counties which are reportedly producing successful results.
