South Africa-based Anthony Laffor over the weekend recorded his first DStv Premiership goal for Chippa United when his side drew 2-2 against Swallows FC at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Eastern Cape, South Africa.

Laffor scored from the spot in the 49th minute to reduce the goal deficits after Chippa were down 2-0 in the first ten minutes. The penalty was awarded when Laffor’s teammate Peter Maloisane was fouled in the box shortly after half-time.

Augustine Kwem, a 23-year-old Nigerian forward, levelled the scores for Chippa in the 60th minute as he quickly reacted to Sizwe Mdlinzo’s ball which hit the post and went back into play.

Saturday’s goal was Laffor’s in a roll (in all competitions) for Chippa after he previously registered his first goal for the Port Elizabeth-based club in their 2-1 Nedbank Cup quarterfinals win against Richards Bay at the Sisa Dukashe Stadium in Mdantsane, near East London in the Eastern Cape, South Africa.

Before Saturday’s match, Laffor in an interview with the media in South Africa, expressed confidence that his team was going to win the game.

“We move forward, we have a big one on Saturday against swallows. We know they are desperate now they are in need of a win. They are going to come to Chippa United very hard. But everything is possible, it’s our home game. We drew with them in our last game. If we listen to what our coach told us what to do, entertaining people who will be watching the game on TV, playing our own game the tiki-taka football, I think we will be victorious,” Laffor told SABC News.

Chippa are in the 13th position of the 16 team log, with 17 points from 20 games. They will travel next to the city of Pietermaritzburg, the capital and second-largest city in the province of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa to face Maritzburg in their next Premiership match.
