The Executive Governor of the Central Bank of Liberia (CBL), Dr. Joseph Mills Jones, and a Liberia Business Tycoon, Benoni Urey have contributed a substantial amount of money toward the scholarship fund-drive of the University of Liberia Student Union (ULSU).
CBL Governor donated the amount of L$7 million, while Mr. Urey alas donated L$200,000 to the project.
The fund-drive is intended to assist students who cannot afford school fees on their own to enter school or continue their educational sojourn.
At the launch of the ULSU scholarship fund drive on the Capitol Hill Campus of the University of Liberia on behalf of Dr. Jones, Deputy Central Bank Governor,0 D. Sheba Brown admonished the students to use the opportunity afforded them by Dr. Jones to receive quality education.
Prior to presenting the check to ULSU leadership, Madam Brown called on ULSU President, Anthony Williams to use the amount for its intended purpose and stay away from act that would corrupt or defeat their purpose.
Mr. Williams, who received the check, expressed gratitude to Governor Jones for the opportunity afforded the many ‘destitute students’ to acquire education.
Also, the Benoni Urey Educational Foundation pledged an amount of L$200,000 to the ULSU fund drive.
Ms. Tella Urey, daughter of Mr. Benoni Urey thanked ULSU for inviting the Foundation to be a part of ensuring that students —who do not have the means of going to school, can now have a chance to acquire education.
