The International Church of Christ on Sunday, July 23, established a branch in Ganta, the commercial hub of Nimba County, to be called “Ganta Christian Church.”
Edmond Goly, guest preacher and head pastor of the church in Liberia, urged the congregation to stay with Christ by being true believers.
He said Christ is supreme, “beyond the thinking, achievement and accomplishment of any human establishment.”
“If you don’t know Christ, your life is meaningless; and once you don’t know what Christ has done for you, you will not live for Him,” he added.
Pastor Goly, who spoke against some ills in society, told members of the newly established congregation that Christianity is not run by majority decision, but rather by “theocracy, or God’s will.”
Under the theme, “Christ is Your Life,” with the text from Colossians 3:4, Goly challenged the congregation to live a godly life, adding, “the most important part of godly living is to repent and believe.”
The launch was held at the Methodist gymnasium; but prior to that, the church held an all night film screening on the life of Jesus Christ while He was on earth.
The ceremony was attended by some prominent citizens of the county, including eminent elder Harry Yuan and Mayor Benjamin Dokpa.
Mayor Dokpa thank the ICOC for establishing a branch in Ganta, which he said adds to the spiritual strength of the Ganta Christian community that is immensely contributing to peace-building and reconciliation in the county.
He cautioned the churchgoers to be good examples of Christ, “who history has recorded as the greatest man that ever lived.”
