Defeated Montserrado Electoral District #17 candidate George Varney Curtis has launched a regular weekend voter appreciation meeting to show his supporters and others how much he cares for the district.

The first of the meetings was held over the weekend when he met residents of Vincent Town, Po River, on the Monrovia-Bomi Highway and dined with them.

“I have come to say a big thank you to all my supporters as well as those that did not support me in the recent election. I am, however, grateful to all of you for exercising your constitutional right in deciding who represents you,” the Brewerville City Mayor said.

“I got in the representative race so the majority of the voting population in this district could give me a bigger platform to expand and improve my developmental agenda for all of us. I was optimistic and believed that we could have marched together to the Capitol Building, but as it went, we conceded to Kiazolu.”

He said nothing on earth bothers him, as he has learned the way to be calm. “The only experience I consider as the worst ever in my life was the death of my mother in 2005. .

He promised to work with Representative-elect Hanson Kiazolu to continue to drive the developmental agenda of the district.

Addressing the audience earlier, the chairman of Vincent Town, Momo Ballah, said he felt discouraged when he received reports that Curtis did not succeed at the polls, an acknowledgement that politics has conflicting sides. “Never trust a political game, not even those who manage or play it. Anything can break apart as though it is a biscuit,” Ballah said.

He said Curtis remains a dear friend of the people. “Our City Mayor is already included in the books or records of people who have positively impacted the lives of their fellow residents in Brewerville and beyond,” he said.

Ballah assured Curtis that he and the people of the district will not distance themselves from him. “We are with you and will remain connected to you as you continue to ably serve all of us,” he said.

Curtis said he plans to visit more communities in the district over the coming weekends, “until all are covered, to thank them for their support and for exercising their constitutional rights.”
