Gov’t Receives US$1M Values of De-worming Drugs


    The government of sovereign Military Order of Malta has donated one million values of de-worming drugs to the Government of Liberia.

    Receiving the donations on behalf of the Liberian Government, Vice President Joseph N. Boakai thanked the people of sovereign Military Order of Malta for their donations and promised that it will be used for all the children in Liberia.

    According to Maltese Ambassador Pierliuigi Nardis, who escorted the drugs from Italy to Liberia, said his government was committed to helping Liberian children grow healthy and strong.

    The drugs, packaged in four containers landed at the Freeport of Monrovia, where the official turning over ceremony was held Thursday morning.

    Vice President Joseph N. Boakai said, the drugs will be turned over to the Ministries of Education and Health and Social Welfare for proper distribution to various counties in the country.

    He added that the de-worming drugs will be given to children at their various schools, and hospital as the need for administrating of the drugs was important for the children of Liberia.

     VP Boakai urgeds all parents and the general public to help the government in making sure that the children of Liberia are sent to the various areas for the de-worming treatments throughout the country.

     He at the same time called on health workers in the country to help administrator the de-worming drugs.

    The Liberian VP further stated that both ministries would work with every sector, so they can receive the necessary drugs.

    According to VP Boakai, the government was working to ensure that major challenges in the health sector are addressed.
