On Tuesday July 14, the friends of Benoni W. Urey under the umbrella “Benoni W. Urey Humanitarian and Education Foundation” dedicated two mini bridges in two communities in Ganta City, Nimba County.
The friends of Urey decided to construct the bridges in order to create access for the movement of goods and services across the commercially booming City of Ganta.
One of the bridges connects Ganta Main Street to Dekermein Community on an alley passing through the Saclepea Parking, while the other bridge connects Guinea Road Community to “Congo” as far as the Ganta general market.
The two mini bridges are strategic because they could ease the transportation problem which is one of the underlying factors undermining the growth of Ganta.
This alley has been impassable since it was last opened in 2008 by the Public Works Ministry under the supervision of the former resident engineer, Joseph Vapon.
The recent development eases traffic congestion at the center of Ganta during the ongoing pavement of the road from Gbarnga to the Guinea/Liberia Border in Ganta.
The occasion was attended by scores of Nimba officials including Representative Jeremiah Koung of Nimba County Electoral District #1, Ganta Acting City Mayor Benjamin Dokpa, among other local officials and some prominent citizens and well-wishers.
