Former Rivercess Lawmaker Dies


Former Rivercess County Representative Jerry Masseh has died. He was 56.

He died last Saturday at the John F. Kennedy (JFK) Medical Center in Sinkor following a period of illness, the family has confirmed.

The late Masseh represented the people of Rivercess Electoral District #2, now District #1, at the 52nd National Legislature until 2011, when he lost to Alfred G. Tweh.

Solomon B. Masseh, son of the deceased, said his father died from high blood pressure, a disease he reportedly suffered from for several years.

Solomon said his father had gone into coma after playing with some of his grandchildren. He was rushed to JFK around 3 a.m. Saturday, and died an hour later.

The late Jerry Masseh’s remains are deposited at the Samuel Stryker Funeral Home in Sinkor, while the family is arranging a series of meetings for his burial.

He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Marie D. Masseh, 18 children and 38 grandchildren.

He also went to the Young Men Christian Association (YMCA) computer program, where he graduated with a diploma in computer literate in 2008. He is now a senior student of the University of Liberia, Civil engineering department, reading Civil engineering. He is in a serious relationship with Mercy Johnson and has a junior boy name, Otis Success Johnson, born 2016, March 29.
