The Foundation for Communities United in Services (FOCUS) has lauded the Senate on the recent passage of the Land Rights Act.
FOCUS’ Communications Officer, Emmanuel Kortu, who spoke to reporters last Thursday in Monrovia, also called on members of the House of Representatives to concur with the Senate in the passage of the Act.
“Such political and social commitment on the part of members of the House of Representatives would serve as a genuine manifestation of their sacred responsibilities to Liberians,” said Mr. Kortu.
He also described the passage of the Act by the Senate as a “progressive and farsighted move” at these crucial times in the country.
“I would like to congratulate the Senate for passing the Land Authority Act,” Mr. Kortu stated.
FOCUS thanked the Land Commission and all other institutions that worked to ensure the passage of the Act. Executive Director, Sam Bouah, described the move by the Senate as a “solid victory for Liberians,” especially the community dwellers.
“FOCUS remains persistent in all of its activities to ensure that Liberians obtain land in a more serene environment in all parts of the country,” Bouah said.
He explained that FOCUS is an expanding, Liberian based development and humanitarian organization. “At FOCUS, we work with communities that are yet to realize their full potential; working inside these communities to create environments in which Liberians can thrive,” Director Bouah said.
