Falling Tree Kills Logger

A twenty-two year old man identified as Andrew Daywhwa has reportedly been killed by a falling tree in Monweh Statutory District #5 in Rivercess County.

The uncle of the deceased, Robert Watson, told the Daily Observer in Buchanan, Grand Bassa County, that the incident occurred on March 19 at the Forest Venture Logging Company’s log yard in Monweh.

According to Mr. Watson, the late Andrew Daywhwa was a chainsaw operator, who on that fateful day went to work, but a tree he was felling did not go in the desired direction but fell on him, crushing him to death.

He narrated: “While my nephew was cutting the tree, it split into two pieces and one large piece fell on him, crushing him to the ground and breaking his back bone.”

Following the incident, the family took the victim to a nearby hospital, but he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The late Daywhwa, who has already been buried, leaves to mourn his loss his three wives, several children and a host of relatives and friends.
