President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has sent a message of congratulations to the government and people of Sierra Leone on the occasion commemorating the country’s 54th independence anniversary.
In her message to President Ernest Bai Koromah, President Sirleaf acknowledged that the observance of the 54th Independence Anniversary of Sierra Leone comes at the critical point when the three countries within the Mano River Union (MRU) region have committed themselves to utilizing the full potential of their people and mobilizing available resources to rid the sub-region of the deadly Ebola scourge which has left significant scars and injuries on the three nations.
President Sirleaf further stated that despite the huge challenges posed by Ebola, the people of Sierra Leone have shown extraordinary courage and resilience which confirm their tenacity to build a vibrant nation.
Madam Sirleaf expressed the hope that the cordial ties of friendship between the people of Liberia and Sierra Leone will be strengthened as the two governments explore new areas of partnership.
She also prayed that the Almighty God will endow President Koromah with abundant wisdom and strength as he steers the affairs of his people.
