Determine Girls continued their unbeaten run in the LFA Upper Women’s Division League on Thursday with a 2-1 victory over Ambassadors at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium.
Thanks to goals from Guinean duo Bintou Sylla and Hawa Conteh, the league leaders have now gone seven games unbeaten and extend their lead to eight points atop of the league table. Striker Conteh has now registered 16 goals in seven league games, making her the top goal scorer.
Meanwhile, the race for the golden boot has heightened as last year’s winner and MVP Angeline Kieh set a goal-scoring record in the 2020/2021 campaign. Kieh recorded seven goals in Earth Angels 11-1 demolition of Island Queens on Thursday at the Technical Center in Careysburg.
She has now reduced the gap on the top goal scorer chat with 11 goals from six games, five goals behind top scorer Conteh.
The win for Angels moved them to the third position on the table, leveled on points (13pts) with Blanco FC after six league games.
Elsewhere, World Girls FC moved to fourth on the log following a 4-0 win over Hippo FC at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex.
The victory was World Girls second in a row since the resumption of the league, thus helping them to escape the relegation zone.
Hippo continue to struggle in the ongoing season with three points from six games.
