DEA Nabs Man, 45, with 17kgs Marijuana

The Margibi detachment of the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) has arrested an alleged drug kingpin in the provincial capital Kakata with 17 kilograms of marijuana.
Over the weekend, DEA officers in Kakata told the Liberia News Agency (LINA) Margibi County correspondent that they succeeded in arresting the suspect following a tip-off.
“Following an early hour raid on the home of the alleged drug dealer,” DEA Officer-in-Charge in Margibi County, Lt/Col. Ralph O. Gooding said, “the raid came after a tip-off from a source.”
The DEA having requested a search warrant from the Kakata Magisterial Court to carry out the operation, he said it was during the search of the home of the suspect that he and his men confiscated the marijuana.
Col. Gooding identified the drug kingpin as 45-year-old Ben Segar, who is also said to be a money-changer in Kakata.
The DEA official put the street value of the 17 kilograms of marijuana at over L$123,000.
He said following the raid on Segar’s home, he was arrested and subsequently charged with illegal possession of narcotic drugs.
Meanwhile, suspect Segar has been detained pending court trial.
