The Drug Enforcement Agency recently carried out a raid in Lorplay town, Nimba County, destroying over 250 trees of the marijuana plant.
The DEA told our Nimba Correspondent that upon a tip off from one of the agents within the vicinity of Lorplay, they were able to identify the farm where the marijuana was planted.
Col. Julius Kanubah, DEA Nimba Commander, said the suspect, only identified as Lorkarmon, remained at large upon hearing that the DEA was carrying out an operation on his farm.
Lorplay is located east of Bahn City in Zoe Geh District, Nimba County.
The DEA had carried numerous operations in many parts of Nimba where several marijuana farms were destroyed and at some point the perpetrators were arrested and sent to court, but what became of the cases is yet to be established.
However, the DEA is warning all involved into marijuana farming to desist and engage into other types of farming that does not pose a threat to security.
“I want to urge you to engage in other types of farming and not marijuana,” he said.
