Messengers of Peace (MoP) executive director Gwendolyn Myers has been appointed by the Coalition Peace Network as a members of its Board of Trustees.
Coalition Peace is a UK-based start-up non-governmental organization (NGO) committed to encouraging collaboration between communities and NGOs for greater global good with the objective to bring together organizations to form an international coalition; sharing, combining and collaborating to develop expert-driven research, and peace-building resources.
“Delighted to announce that Gwendolyn Myers, Founder & Executive Director of Messengers of Peace Liberia, is joining our Board of Trustees. We are really excited about Gwendolyn’s expertise as a local peace-builder, with focus on youth and gender issues,” Coalition Peace said in a Facebook post.
In a mobile phone conversation on Monday, September 10, Myers said her selection was based on lots of recommendations from people, as well as an extensive research done by the Coalition Peace itself about her work.
This knowledge will be translated into practice through a peace-building and capacity-building app, accessible free of charge to communities and locally-led peace initiatives, the group said on its website.
“I had my first Board of trustees meeting last month [August], and the Facebook post was just a confirmation of it being official,” she added. Myers expressed her gratitude to God for the recent recognition, appointment and accolades bestowed upon her and her organization.
Last month, another group, the Youth Hub Africa, named Ms. Myers as one of the “Outstanding Change Makers” in the country.
