The Monrovia City Court at the Temple of Justice has incarcerated an 18 year old man on charges of armed robbery and simple assault, the Liberia News Agency (LINA) has reported.
Defendant Jeff Hotto was on January 4 arrested by the Liberia National Police (LNP) based on a complaint filed by victim Gavin Nobel, who alleged that he was attacked by the defendant and five unknown men armed with knives, scissors and other deadly weapons.
Police charge sheet indicated that in the process of the attack, the defendant, along with his accomplices, wounded the victim and took away from him several valuable items and money, leaving him to the mercy of the community members, who rushed to his rescue after the suspected robbers had reportedly fled the scene.
During police investigation, the defendant reportedly confessed to the crime, saying they were four in numbers that assaulted the victim and forcibly took away his money and other items.
Meanwhile, defendant Hotto is detained at the Monrovia Central Prison awaiting court trial, while police is said to be in search of his alleged accomplices.
