Hipco artist Maurice Glayfor (stage name: CIC) has upstaged his rival Christoph to become the new Brand Ambassador for telecommunications giant, Lonestar Cell MTN.
The promising rapper, who bested Christoph and 8 other rappers, is now the company’s third brand ambassador, in a deal reportedly worth over US$10,000 and includes a brand new car and other benefits. CIC’s rise to brand ambassadorship follows the late R&B star Quincy B and, previously, rapper Takun J. The selection process for the company’s new brand ambassador started three months ago with 10 artists and after four rounds was finally won by CIC.
The company’s brand and communications manager, Abigail Nufeatalai, noted that the process to get the new brand ambassador was free, transparent, and fair because it was the fans that selected their own brand ambassador through text message voting. “For Lonestar Cell, we see the growth of the music industry as a priority and that is why we will continue to engage and support our local artists so that they can find full expression for their talents,” she said.
With over US$100,000 invested in Liberia’s music industry by MTN so far, the company remains one of the biggest supporters of the music industry. The company has a track record of consistently providing the stage for some of Liberia’s biggest artists to shine and express themselves.
