On December 5 last week the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) Medical Team, jointly with Chinese Expert Group on Bamboo and Rattan Weaving and Vegetable Plantation and East International Group, donated anti-Ebola materials to SKD Community, including nearby police stations and the Red Light Market.
The materials included sanitizer powder and buckets; motorcycles, rice, cooking-oil, amongst others, estimated to have cost at least US$40,000. The donation was witnessed by his Excellency Mr. Zhang Yue, Chinese Ambassador accredited to Liberia.
Mr. Wang Yungui, Head of the Chinese PLA Medical Team, lauded the people of SKD Community for their kindness and support to the Chinese ETU, promising to work together with the locals in order to win the battle against Ebola.
Representatives from SKD community extended their gratitude to the long-term and selfless support shown Liberia by the Chinese government. Commending the rapid speed and high quality of the Chinese ETU construction, they said, that Asian nation’s treatment units have made them feel safer amid the Ebola epidemic. They promised that they would cooperate closely with their Chinese counterparts, ensuring that all the work goes ahead as planned.
The SKD Community residents extended their thanks by a visit to the Chinese-built ETU, including its training center.
