Chinese Ambassador to Liberia Zhang Yue said a consignment of assorted items assessed at US$2 mullion for use by the Liberia National Police (LNP) is currently at the National Port Authority (NPA) waiting to be cleared.

Ambassador Yue said his government is considering sending some medical supplies for soldiers of the Armed Forces of Liberia (AFL).

The Chinese Ambassador made the disclosure recently when he paid a courtesy call on the President Pro Tempore of the Liberian Senate, Armah Zolu Jallah, at his Capitol Building offices in Monrovia.

Amb. Zhang during the meeting informed Senator Jallah that he is immensely satisfied with what he described as the cordial relationship between both countries especially in the areas of economic cooperation, peace and security.

“The Chinese government is highly contemplating providing support to recondition some of Liberia’s feeder roads to help farmers have access to the main road,” the Chinese Ambassador said.  He has meanwhile promised to hold consultations with his government to provide support to road construction in Liberia, promising to help support feeder road projects in Gbarpolu County.

Amb. Zhang assured Liberians that he will forever remain a friend to the country to solicit help from the Government of the People’s Republic of China, citing examples of China’s interventions in the Liberian economy, the Liberian Airport Expansion Project, the construction of the Ministerial Complex, and the construction of an annex to the Capitol Building.

In response, Pro Tempore Jallah, who chairs the Gbarpolu County Legislative Caucus, lauded the bilateral relationship between Liberia and Mainland China, which he said has accrued many dividends to both countries including reciprocal diplomatic ties, road construction, sports, and health.

Jallah highlighted the involvement of soldiers of the AFL in community development projects, including using China-donated yellow machines to construct a 15.5-kilometer road in Gou’Nwolalla District, Gbarpolu County connecting the district to surrounding towns and villages.
