Four Liberia Referees have been assigned to take charge of a CAF Confederation Cup match between ASC Jaraaf De Dakar of Senegal and Salitas of Burkina Faso on April 4, 2021.
FIFA badged referees Hassan Corneh, Johnson Gbartea, Joel Doe, and Jerry Yekeh are the four referees that have been assigned to officiate the game.
The game is the third round of matches in Group C of the 2021 CAF Confederation Cup. The Confederation Cup is Africa’s secondary club football tournament organized by CAF annually.
ASC Jaraaf is currently the bottom team of the group on a single point from two games, while their opponents, Salitas are second with three points from the same numbers of games.
Referee Corneh will serve as central referee, while Gbartea as Assistant Referee-1, Doe as Assistant Referee-2, and Yekeh as the fourth official. The game will mark Referee Corneh’s second in the confederation Cup for 2021 after he served as a central referee when Raja Casablanca of Morocco defeated Tanzania’s Namungo 1-0 on March 10.
The last time the quartet played an international match together was on September 21, 2019, in the Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifiers, when Senegal defeated Guinea 1-0 in Dakar, Senegal. Jerry Yekeh was the central referee.
Referees Gbartea and Yekeh are joining the team after executing another international assignment on Monday, March 29, when four Liberian referees officiated an AFCON qualifiers match between Burkina Faso and South Sudan in Ouagadougou. Gbartea and Yekeh served as Assistant Referee-1 and Fourth Official respectively, while George Rogers served as the central referee-his AFCON’s debut as central referee and Abraham Fhanbulleh served as Assistant ref-2.
